Critiques of the debt ceiling law are long-standing. My point is not to support it or object to it. Rather, I only note that, as a procedural matter, extending the debt ceiling is legislative and unavoidable. That being said, there is great value in what you say and I wish that more people understood the problems inherent in the debt ceiling law.
